What is Imagine! Girdwood?

Imagine! Girdwood is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2019 to complete a rewrite of the Girdwood Comprehensive Plan, an element of the Municipality of Anchorage's Comprehensive Plan.

Imagine! Girdwood operates under the financial sponsorship of Girdwood Inc. which is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3). Since Girdwood Inc. holds and manages all funds, and is able to receive donations and grants on behalf of Imagine! Girdwood.

In April 2021 the Anchorage Assembly formally authorized Imagine! Girdwood to develop an update of the Girdwood Area Plan.

Board of Directors

Under Imagine! Girdwood's bylaws, five Directors are elected to one-year terms at the January regular meeting.

The current directors (serving through January 2025) are:

• Shannon O'Brien, Secretary

• Amanda Sassi, Treasurer

• Mitch Roth, Director-at-Large

Professional staff

A plan of this scope requires support from professional planners. Imagine! Girdwood works closely with Long-Range Planning at the Municipality of Anchorage and contracts with Huddle AK for project management and technical services. Additional technical services are sub-contracted to Agnew::Beck.

Donations

Due t the additional work needed for the Planning & Zoning Commission review and more preparation for the Assembly action, the project will be slightly over budget. We need to raise $3,000 to meet the shortfall.
